When the sun starts to go down, the excitement begins in the heart of Palm Springs, California. While Palm Canyon Drive and the surrounding area are full of artistic life, shopping and fine dining during the day, VillageFest brings a whole new meaning to fun and entertainment when evening arrives. Started more than 20 years ago, Village Fest brings the Palm Springs community and visitors from all over together in celebration of what’s great in this scenic city.
Quality Time in Exciting Palm Springs
During the day, traffic and pedestrians alike wind through Palm Canyon Drive taking in the best the area has to offer. All of this changes on Thursday evenings when VillageFest, one of the top Palm Springs events, kicks into full swing. Between June and September this word-famous roadway is closed to vehicles between 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm while remaining wide-open to those looking for the bright nightlife between Amado and Baristo on foot. The area takes on the vibe of a California street fair with vendors filling the street with entertainment, food, arts and crafts galore! When planning your trip, do be aware that between the months of October and May these hours change from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Late Night Thursday
No matter what time of the day or year you find yourself around beautiful Palm Canyon Drive, make sure to take note of the shops that carry a sign reading BOLT. While a striking symbol may jump to mind, these signs indicate that these particular businesses will BE OPEN LATE THURSDAYS when VillageFest is underway. This is a great way to plan your VillageFest shopping and dining stops in advance to make the most of your time in this exciting venue!
A Little Art Goes a Long Way
VillageFest is one of our favorite Palm Springs events, known for its food, entertainment and crafts, but there’s a jewel waiting in the midst of it all for those who crave a little artistic pleasure. The Palm Springs Art Museum gladly offers visitors free admission Thursdays evenings in honor of VillageFest. Named the largest cultural institution in the Coachella Valley, the Palm Springs Art Museum delivers up fantastic permanent and rolling exhibitions to please the eye and mind. The museum offers visitors the chance to explore 28 galleries and two sculpture gardens. Additionally, the museum hosts a thriving theater program.
