What Makes Palm Springs a Great 4th of July Vacation Destination

Palm Springs is at its hottest during seasonal summer holidays like Independence Day—not only because of our temperatures, but because of our parties as well! As desert dwellers, we know the best ways to cool off and have fun in the summertime. From pool parties and family friendly carnivals to traditional fireworks viewed from untraditional locations, there are a ton of different 4th of July in Palm Springs experiences.

Palm Springs 4th of July Events, Activities, and More

In Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley region, we celebrate Independence Day in the days leading up to July 4th as well.

The City of Coachella holds its Independence Day celebration on the Sunday before July 4th, while the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians hosts their annual fireworks display in Indio over the Eagle Springs Golf Course, next door to Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

On July 4th, locations all over Palm Springs provide you and your guests with the opportunity to take in the fireworks, with festivities leading up to the big events. Enjoy a dip in the pool (or even watch the fireworks from the water) at the Palm Springs City Pool or the Kimpton Rowan Hotel’s all-day pool party. At Palm Springs Stadium, you can watch an all-American pastime, the PS Power baseball game, followed by fireworks put on by the city at 9:15pm. The AAP independence Party at the O’Donnell House is another cool event to check out.

Agua Caliente Casino, located in nearby Rancho Mirage, is home to one of the most spectacular fireworks displays in Greater Palm Springs. Admission and parking are free for the fireworks, though you can always dine on delicious barbecue at the Grand Palms Buffet beforehand.

Equally as beautiful are the annual fireworks at Civic Center Park in Palm Desert, which begins with live music at 7:15pm leading up to the fireworks at 9pm.

Finally, for some unique views, you can always reserve a patio seat at one of the restaurants at Gardens on El Paseo, or indulge in breathtaking views from above at Vista Point along Highway 74 or at the top of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, which has extended holiday hours.
