Activities and Events for Memorial Day Palm Springs
Kick off your summer with Palm Springs’ many different events and celebrations.
The long weekend starts a little early (or lasts a little longer) with VillageFest. Each Thursday evening from October through May, the streets of Downtown Palm Springs transform into one of the most popular street fairs in Southern California. Here, you can peruse the wares of local businesses and vendors selling flowers, fruits and vegetables, snacks, sweets, jewelry, and other goods, all while enjoying the talented performances of artists and entertainers. Other popular Thursday events include the Mod Squad Variety Show and Lipstick: An Evening of Drag Stars and Show People, both hosted at The Copa Nightclub.
Comedy performers like Jo Anne Worley and the comedians behind the Comedy Madness Show with Mike Quu will be performing in Downtown Palm Springs at venues like the Purple Room and the Club at Hotel Zoso on the night of Friday, May 24, 2019. Jo Anne Worley will also have another show on Saturday, May 25th. Additionally, the Purple Room will also host The Judy Show!, an immensely popular Golden Era Hollywood celebrity impersonation show hosted by Michael Holmes and Joel Baker, on Sunday, May 26th. You can also catch Palm Canyon Theatre’s performances of Steve Martin’s Meteor Shower on Thursday, May 30th and Friday, May 31st.
Every Memorial Day, the Palm Springs Air Museum hosts its Annual Memorial Day Flower Drop, showering Palm Springs with thousands of red and white carnations from the museum’s B-25 aircraft to commemorate the soldiers who fought in World War II. It’s truly a breathtaking sight and a wonderful way to remember those who sacrificed their lives for our country.
Finally, Palm Springs Desert Resorts Restaurant Week also begins on Friday, May 31st, lasting through early June.
