La Vallauris

Take an evening to be transported from Palm Springs to the other side of the globe—or at least, that’s what it’ll feel like when you dine at La Vallauris, a long-running gourmet restaurant that combines the elegance of French cooking with a touch of California style. With a gorgeous interior reminiscent of a scene you’d find in a Parisian apartment, and a sprawling and lush patio, it’s truly a setting perfect for an intimate night out or a festive celebration with larger groups of friends.

A Taste of French Flair in the Heart of the Desert

The restaurant itself is named for a region in France where Picasso once lived, and part of the area is coastal—so it’s no surprise that at La Vallauris, you’ll find some Mediterranean influence in their dishes as well.  Walk into the dining area to be greeted by exquisite table arrangements that look like they’d be home in Marie Antionette’s dining hall, complete with furnishings inspired by that time period. Start off with French-influenced appetizers such as escargot in garlic and parsley butter, or Duck Confit raviolis with Chanterelle mushrooms and a white Port reduction. You’ll also find a prix fixe menu where you can indulge in tasting the best of La Vallauris, including starters, main courses, and desserts. For those desiring a taste of something truly upscale, there is a selection of fine caviar available to choose from.

Other than the outstanding cuisine, the patio is well-known to be one of La Vallauris’s best features, with a canopy of trees providing shade during weekend lunches, and a magical atmosphere in the evening with twinkling lanterns. Ask for a seat outside during any time of year, as the patio is cooled in the summer and heated in the winter.

During weekend lunch hours, take advantage of an à la carte menu with items like Grilled Peppercorn Cognac Filet, served alongside French fries and spinach, or the Maine Lobster Salad with avocado, asparagus, and passionfruit dressing. Sunday Champagne Brunch is also not to be missed, where you can unwind on the patio and indulge in a mimosa while selecting from delectable dishes like Organic Eggs Benedict with your choice of smoked salmon or prosciutto. And don’t forget to check out the whiteboard with seasonal and rotating specialties for limited edition creations!

Just off the main streets of downtown Palm Springs, you can dine at La Vallauris nightly from 5 PM to 9:30 PM, and for lunch on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, with Champagne Brunch on Sundays from 11:30 AM to 2 PM. Please note that La Vallauris will be closed seasonally for the summer, typically beginning in July and ending in September.
