If you’re after exceptional sushi in the middle of the desert, you’ll find it at The Venue Sushi Bar & Sake Lounge, a sophisticated yet casual sushi restaurant with a touch of personalized flair from owner Chef Engin Onural. This sleek and modern eatery has an excellent location for our renters in Palm Desert and sits in the middle of the bustle of the El Paseo shopping district.
Passion Meets Plate at this Top-Notch Sushi and Sake Restaurant
When you step through the door and see the minimalistic chicness that’s reminiscent of Japanese interior design, you’ll feel like the vibe of the place perfectly synchronizes with its beautifully plated food. Each dish is its own masterpiece for Chef Engin, who puts his signature touch on many of his creations, including the crafted cocktails and the selection of sake.
There’s a plethora of tasty starters, so many that it could be hard to choose. With options like spicy edamame, coconut shrimp, spicy tuna tostada, and vegetable tempura, you might want to order more than just a few! Try one of the Asian-inspired salads, such as the cucumber salad or the Tataki, your choice of tuna, salmon, escolar, or albacore atop a bed of mixed greens, tossed with a ponzu dressing. For more small plates of the raw fish variety, there’s a terrific selection of sashimi and nigiri, including favorites like salmon and yellowtail.
When it comes to the rolls, that’s where you’ll find your night really begins! You can expect to find standard selections like the famed California Roll or Philadelphia Roll, or you can move onto The Venue’s specialized rolls for a truly unique dish. Live the California life with California Dream’n, a delicious roll containing crab meat and avocado, with spicy tuna and aioli and teriyaki sauce on top. And no trip would be complete without ordering their namesake roll, The Venue at Palm Springs, filled with a combination of spicy tuna, cucumber, and gobo—a sweet, crispy earth root used in Japanese cuisine. On top you’ll find seared salmon, spicy aioli, teriyaki sauce, greens, and tobiko, also known as flying fish roe.
For a desert that’ll feel like it’s taking you all the way to Tokyo, order the Japanese Style Green Tea Cheesecake, with fresh berries and a hibiscus syrup. In addition, there’s a selection of sorbets and other masterfully curated indulgences. The Venue at Palm Springs is open from 5 PM to 9 PM daily.
